Return to the traditional filibuster

If you want to stop a bill, you have to put in the work.

On the Democrat’s terrible, evil and dastardly plan to get rid of the Senate filibuster: I am all for getting rid of part of the U.S. Senate filibuster.

The “lazy” modern filibuster, where a single, solitary senator can, on a whim, send a note to the floor, then put their feet on their desk, drink with lobbyists, or go home for the day — those procedures can happily go away.

In their place, we should restore the rules for the traditional (pre-1970s) filibuster, where one or more senators actually have to expend time, commitment and do actual work; the one where one or more of them physically stand on the floor and try to do Jimmy Stewart proud.
