Let’s all show our good sense and enjoy the wonderful public display provided by our city and local businesses.

We could take the money spent on individual fireworks and use it for some more meaningful purpose. Returning veterans would surely appreciate a quieter holiday as well as our poor stressed out pets. Emergency room workers would no longer hate to see our Independence Day holiday arrive. Our firemen would no longer dread the thought of a home in flames.

How about losing this tired old tradition? We’re smart enough to do it.
