ENUMCLAW PRO RODEO
Easily one of Enumclaw’s biggest events in August, the Pro Rodeo fills up the local Expo Center’s bleachers every year.
This year’s rodeo is Aug. 23 – 25, featuring among the athletes three live performers: Sammy Steele on Friday, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and 9 to 11:30 p.m.; Leah Justine on Saturday, 4 to 6:30 p.m.; and Santa Poco on Sunday, 9 to 11:30 p.m.
Gates to the rodeo on Friday and Saturday open at 4 p.m., with the rodeo starting at 7.
The gates for Sunday open at 11 a.m. and the rodeo at 1 p.m.

SUMMER CONCERTS, FAMILY EVENTS
Sunflower Days at Maris Farms: Maris Farms’ annual Sunflower Days festival is weekends and Wednesdays from Aug. 10 – 25. The event features five acres of 20 different varieties of sunflowers you can walk through (and even cut to take home). The usual other farm offerings will also be available, like the jumping pillow, mega slide, the ropes course, and more. There are special offerings this event, though, like the Aug. 10 classic car show and cornhole tournament. Single-day general admission tickets are $20, and youth $18, but there are also flex passes and ultimate access tickets; head to marisfarms.com/tickets/sunflower-days/ to purchase tickets and for the daily schedule.
Concerts in the Park: The city of Enumclaw has expanded its annual Concerts in the Park events, bringing in food trucks live musicians like Grit City Band, Five Mile Drive, and Amelia Day and the Cloves to Rotary Park, Garret Park, and Holdener Park (Sun Top Farms) every Thursday between July 18 and Aug. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. For a full schedule, head to facebook.com/EnumclawParks.
Tunes by the Trail: There is an array of kids activities and free concerts in Buckley every Thursday from July 11 to Aug 22. Programs for kids start at 11 a.m. at the Buckley Youth Center lawn; acts include Reptile Isle, the Big Bubble Show, and The Rad Scientist. Buckley Hometown Market: The Buckley Downtown Association hosts a Hometown Market third Saturday from 4 – 8 p.m., at the Main Street Loop. The next events are Aug. 6, 13, and 20.

Black Diamond Beach Party: Ten Trails is hosting a Beach Party at Civic Park on Friday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be bouncy houses and yard games, plus food trucks, vendors, and a beer garden. Finally, Dueling Pianos with Jeff and Rhiannon will be performing.
Pizza & Pints for MORA: The city of Wilkeson is hosting a Pizza for Mount Rainier fundraiser on Aug. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m., to support the Carbon River and Mowich Lake entrances to the park. EHS over-50th reunion: The EHS Over-50th Year Reunion made up of anyone attending or graduating from EHS beginning in year 1974 back to our oldest attendee from the Class of 1944 is next month. National Night Out: The city of Buckley, with the local police and fire departments, is hosting its annual National Night Out event on Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a free barbecue, numerous kid and family activities, chances to meet local first responders, and more.

Boozy BINGO Brunch: The Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce is hosting a brunch BINGO event on Aug. 10, starting at 11:30 a.m. Tickets cost $199 for a table of six people, and comes with 24 BINGO cards, daubers, a bottle of Prosecco, orange juice, and a breakfast charcuterie from Bordeaux Wine Bar and muffins from The Kettle. EHS 60th reunion: EHS Class of 1964 will hold its 60th Year Reunion on Saturday, Aug. 10. Any classmate attending or graduating from EHS is welcome. If anyone wishes to attend that has not received a registration please call 253-797-2906.

Summer performance: The Gateway Concert Band presents “Jubilance and Peace” a summer concert performed at Rotary Centennial park on Monday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. If the weather is too cool or wet the concert will be moved to the community auditorium at Enumclaw High School The event is free, though a $10 donation is appreciated. Movie Night — “Grease”: Black Diamond’s Ten Trails neighborhood is hosting a “Grease” movie night at Civic Park on Aug. 16, starting at sunset. A beer garden will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.; food trucks will also be on site. This is a free event.
Movie Night — “Kung Fu Panda 4”: The Buckley Youth Activity Center is hosting a free showing of “Kung Fu Panda 4” on Aug. 16, starting at dusk, on the nearby field. This is a BYOB (bring your own blanket) event.

The first event will be at the local VFW Hall and focuses on fly fishing foundations; the second class will focus on casting, but the location is TBD. 80s Throwback: Black Diamond’s Ten Trails neighborhood is hosting an 80s Throwback Sunset Market on Aug. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be an 80s costume contest, food trucks, vendors, yard games, and bouncy houses, plus live music from Blue Wave Band playing 80s tunes.

Brewskis with a Newsie: Come meet your local journalists on every first Wednesday of each month at Cole Street Brewery (1627 Cole Street, Enumclaw) from 5 to 6 p.m. This is an informal event where residents can pitch stories, fact-check articles, and talk shop. Coffee with the Mayor: Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro hosts a Coffee with the Mayor on the first Mondays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. This is a casual session for citizens to meet with me and discuss issues, concerns, and projects.
Cancer Support Group: The Plateau Prostate Cancer Support Group, which is open to everyone diagnosed with any cancer and their loved ones, is meeting at the Enumclaw airport every second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
