Celebrate Valentine’s Day with wine and chocolate, or the coming spring with a new seed exchange program.

Feb. 7

Wine and Chocolate: The Enumclaw Expo Center is hosting its annual Wine and Chocolate Festival on Feb. 7 (4 – 9:30 p.m.) and Feb. 8 (2 – 9:30 p.m.). Tickets, which are $40, come with eight tasting tickets and a commemorative tasting class; additional tickets can be bought for $1. There are also VIP tickets for $85 that includes a champagne welcome in a special lounge area, 12 tasting tickets, exclusive wine selections, and a charcuterie board with chocolates. Knits, Knots & Stitches: The Enumclaw library is hosting an adult (18+) craft get-together to socialize while you work on whatever craft you’ve got going. There are some supplies, but it’s recommended you bring your own. Registration not required.

Valentine Market: Black Diamond’s Ten Trails neighborhood is putting on a Valentine Pop Up Market on Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Family Fun: The Enumclaw Library hosts a free monthly family activity every first Saturday of the month, from 11 a.m. to noon. This month’s event is BINGO. Ages 6 and up with an adult. Activities vary.

Feb. 10

Blood Drive: The American Red Cross will be at the Black Diamond Ten Trails neighborhood on Feb. 10 from 1 to 6 p.m at the Welcome Center (32607 Willow Ave Se).

Feb. 12

Seed Swap: The Enumclaw Library is hosting a CommUnity Seed Swap on Feb. 12, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. This is a social event to meet other local gardeners and swap seeds, if you have any. If you’d like to participate in the seed swap, pre-package your seeds (there will be limited packaging materials at the event), label the container with the common name, appearance description, date collected, and any additional notes. There will also be seed information sheets at the event. If you wand to just donate some seeds, drop them off before the event during library open hours and let staff know it’s for the swap event. Any leftover seeds will be donated to our Enumclaw Little Seed Library (a seasonal part of the Enumclaw Little Green Library) and other local groups.

Feb. 19

Breakfast for the Birds: The Enumclaw Garden Club is hosting its 59th Breakfast for the Birds on Feb. 19, starting at 9 a.m. at the Enumclaw High School. The theme is “Queen for a Day”. The guest speaker will be David Ward, who helps run the local Featherhaven songbird rehabilitation center. For tickets, contact your local garden club.

Breakout box: The Enumclaw library is hosting a Breakout Box puzzle night on Feb. 18, starting at 4 p.m. A breakout box is like an escape room — but in a box. Teams will be organized at the event. Registration is not required.

Feb. 23:

CERT PROGRAM

In March, the city of Puyallup’s Emergency Management department will be teaming up with the Buckley Fire Department this March to teach free classes on how you and your community can prepare for and respond to a disaster. Training topics include fire safety/utility controls, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology, and disaster medical operations. Classes will be hosted at the Wilkeson Fire Station on March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 25, and 26. To sign up, go to cityofpuyallup.org/cert.

RECURRING EVENTS

Brewskis with a Newsie: Come meet your local journalists on every first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at Fill’s Growlers (check the back room). This is an informal event where residents can pitch stories, fact-check articles, and talk shop. For more information, email rstill@courierherald.com or call 360-802-8220.

Scottish Dancing: The Plateau Scottish Country Dancers have resumed Monday night classes and are welcoming new members. Classes are from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Danish Hall (1708 Porter St. Enumclaw). Cost is $5 per person and a partner is not required. Dances are taught according to the skill level of those attending, so beginners are always welcome! Scottish Country Dancing is a centuries-old tradition reflecting the music and culture of Scotland. It’s great exercise and a lot of fun! Come see what we do. Coffee with the Mayor: Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro hosts a Coffee with the Mayor on the first Mondays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. This is a casual session for citizens to meet with him and discuss issues, concerns, and projects.
