TODDLER TIME

The city of Enumclaw’s Parks and Rec department is organizing Toddler Time art events for kids ages 2 to 5 at the VFW Hall (44426 244th Ave SE, Enumclaw). There are four January events — the ones on Jan. 9 and 23 focus on snowflakes and penguins, and Jan. 16 and 30 focus on snowmen and polar bears. Classes are $40 for two sessions. January may be Enumclaw’s slow month, but there are tons of events happening over at The Chalet Theater.

Jan. 11

Petty Fever: Are you a Tom Petty fan? Then head to The Chalet on Saturday, Jan. 11 to catch Petty Fecer, an award-winning Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tribute band. Tickets are $25. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8.

Jan. 18

Pretty in Pink: Pink Floyd tribute band Long Live Rock is playing the best of Pink Floyd on Saturday, Jan. 18. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8. Tickets are $20 online, or $25 at the door. No dark sarcasm, please.

Jan. 24

Matthew Broussard: Comedian Matthew Brossard is visiting Enumclaw on Jan. 24, with his show starting at 8 p.m. While it’s recommended for attendees to be 21 years old or older, that’s not a requirement (but some material is R-rated). Tickets are $20 – $35.

Jan. 25

Swift Tribute: Swifties can gather at the Chalet on Saturday, Jan. 25 to join Taylor Swift tribute band 13 Til Midnight. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8. Tickets are $15 online, or $20 at the door.

Jan. 31

Glam it up: Motley Crew tribute band Lewd and Crued is performing at The Chalet on Friday, Jan. 31. This is an all-ages show, but there will be R-rated content. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8. Tickets are $20 online, or $25 at the door.

RECURRING EVENTS

Brewskis with a Newsie: Come meet your local journalists on every first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at Fill’s Growlers (check the back room). This is an informal event where residents can pitch stories, fact-check articles, and talk shop. For more information, email rstill@courierherald.com or call 360-802-8220. PLEASE NOTE this meeting will be on Jan. 8 due to the holiday.

Scottish Dancing: The Plateau Scottish Country Dancers have resumed Monday night classes and are welcoming new members. Classes are from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Danish Hall (1708 Porter St. Enumclaw). Cost is $5 per person and a partner is not required. Dances are taught according to the skill level of those attending, so beginners are always welcome! Scottish Country Dancing is a centuries-old tradition reflecting the music and culture of Scotland. It’s great exercise and a lot of fun! Come see what we do. Coffee with the Mayor: Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro hosts a Coffee with the Mayor on the first Mondays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. This is a casual session for citizens to meet with him and discuss issues, concerns, and projects.

Cancer Support Group: The Plateau Prostate Cancer Support Group, which is open to everyone diagnosed with any cancer and their loved ones, is meeting at the Enumclaw airport every second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
