Author Cho Shimizu shares new book | Pierce County Public Library

Meet author Cho Shimizu at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Fife Pierce County Library. Books will be available for purchase and signing during this free event sponsored by Friends of Fife Library.

Former Fife resident Shimizu shares his story of growing up Japanese-American in the Puyallup Valley in the late 1930s in his book, “Cho’s Story: From the Eyes of a Nisei Son.”  He survived internment at Camp Harmony in Puyallup and Minidoka War Relocation Center in Idaho.

He tells of his family’s experiences as well as his own before, during and after World War II and how those experiences changed everyone’s lives forever.

Shimizu is retired and lives in Puyallup, Washington, with his wife. He spends his time volunteering in the community and enjoying his family, friends and church.
