Ryan Coleman brings Buddy Holly back to life in this rock ‘n’ roll tribute at the Auburn Avenue Theatre at 7:30 p.m. March 9 and 10. The high energy show recreates the star studded rock tours of the late 1950s, honoring the spirit of the artists in their original performances. Coleman will be joined on stage by Paul Eddy and Jim Klienbeck portraying Holly’s fellow rock ‘n’ roll pioneers, Ritchie Valens and ‘The Big Bopper’, J.P. Richardson.
The show will feature a five piece band of seasoned musicians backing the tribute artists. Additionally being featured are rockabilly legends Wanda Jackson (Stephanie Leeper) and Eddie Cochran (Chris Walter). The family friendly show aims to transport the audience back to an era of sock hops and soda shoppes and is sure to entertain music fans of all ages.
‘Buddy Holly’s Tour of Stars’ in August of 2010 held the ‘Concert for Cullen’ in an effort to raise funds for Cullen Steele, a young Auburn boy with pulmonary hypertension. The event raised more than $4,000 towards Steele’s medical expenditures. The show often plays to sell-out crowds and always ends in standing ovations and rave reviews. A young participant
that attended one of Coleman’s recent performances revealed: “…[Ryan Coleman’s] performance made me realize how much more there was to Buddy than I knew and I haven’t been able to get his music out of my head since”.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for student/seniors. Auburn Avenue Theatre offers a group discount for 10 or more at 20 percent off the ticket
price. Tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling the box office at 253-931-3043.
Summit Productions was formed in 2010 by Coleman and Leeper with a goal to provide quality theatre and music performances to the entire Puget Sound region. They focus on featuring local, talented artists with families and full or part time jobs. These performers are unable to devote the time required to be involved in most professional productions. Summit Productions strives to create an environment and schedule that caters to theses restraints and allows them to work their craft and still produce a professional product while providing them with competitive financial compensation.
