Cascade Foothills Chorale offers “Love in Any Language” concert June 5 and 6

What urges one to express love?

And how does one communicate this extreme emotion?

Cascade Foothills Chorale invites you to join in exploring these questions, through music.

Our spring concert, Love in Any Language, looks at the endless ways in which love is shown. Not just the different spoken languages used, but ideas and actions that convey the same message.

We begin by exploring the different aspects of love, as witnessed in the Broadway musical. But there must be a source; a food of it all. Maybe music is the food of love?

As we progress through different expressions, we explore relationships (“Sisters”), momentous occasions (“Bridal Chorus,” “Chapel of Love” and “Get Me to the Church on Time”), inspiration (“You Raise Me Up”) and a new idea of free love (“Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In”). And don’t think audience participation will be lacking. The choir will bring the theater back to the 1960s and ’70s through costume, lights and – well you’ll just have to be there to find out.

The chorale then digs into the deep romantic love between two people…but don’t be surprised if an argument breaks out in the midst of it all. Songs will include two foreign language love songs, a popular Elton John song made famous in a Disney movie and an appearance from our very own Allegro Women’s Ensemble, singing “You Are the New Day.”

As the concert closes, love in action is the theme. The choir sings “Wondrous Love” (based on an American Folk Hymn) and the resurgent, “We Are the World.” We then close with our title song, “Love in Any Language,” and the recurring theme of our concert.

Concerts are at 7 p.m. June 5 and 2:30 p.m. June 6 at White River High School Theater.

Ticket prices are $10 each, $12 at the door, and include a dessert buffet.

The concert will also include the raffling of three large gift baskets.
