Editor’s note: The following is a press release from the Simple Goodness Soda Shop.
The holidays have taken over at the Simple Goodness Soda Shop.
The Wilkeson family friendly drinking destination in the 500-resident rural town is hosting its annual Holiday Hootenany, a holiday bar complete with a full menu of festive cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, over the top Christmas decor and family friendly activities ranging from a liquor licensed Christmas tree lot just out the bar’s back door, to weekly snowfall, Christmas Movies in the dining room, live music, wreath classes and a Pop Up Market.
In the tradition of cult favorite holiday pop up bars like Miracle on 2nd Street by Rob Roy in Seattle, and the Jingle Jangle pop up pub found at the Dead Rabbit in Chicago, the Simple Goodness Soda Shop will transform its menu and ambiance to all things Christmas for a few short weeks.
From Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 30 through Dec. 22, the Simple Goodness Soda Shop will become a holiday haven with the Holiday Hootenany, offering a Christmas tree lot and a specialty menu during all regular hours, alongside a host of events.
A little bar in the town of Wilkeson, on the road to the Carbon River entrance of Mt Rainier, may seem an unlikely destination for big festive cheer, but owner Venise Cunningham says that’s the whole point. “Out here in Wilkeson, even though it’s just 15 minutes from the Bonney Lake Costco and a 15 minute drive from the town of Enumclaw, it feels like a world away, almost like you stepped back in time. That’s really special, but we have give people a reason to make the drive and shop and drink. So we figured we’d give people a whole lot of very cozy, very festive reasons.”
Look for a drink menu of cheekily named cocktails such as the annual tradition of Holly Dolly Christmas, a pink Sugar Plum cocktail (there is a non-alcoholic version for those interested) garnished with a cowgirl ornament you can take home to your tree, the Merry and Bright Martini, served in a clean glass ornament you can take home, and the Home for the Holidays on the Ranch to Find Love, a pumpkin spice infused bourbon cocktail using 2Bar Spirits Bourbon, a woman owned distillery in Seattle, WA. Attendees of all ages can sip on festive, made from scratch cocktails, marshmallow and candy cane adorned homemade hot chocolate, comfort food specials, and soak up the Christmas spirit with over-the-top decor.
Last year’s Christmas trees sold out in just one day, so this year three times as many trees have been brought in to sell, and a presale is being offered for pick up beginning on Saturday, Nov. 30. A new family tradition can be made when you bring home a Christmas tree from the Simple Goodness tree lot, set up in the bar’s summer dining yard, and bring the kids to see snowfall Friday nights at 6 p.m.
“We just thought of all of our favorite family traditions and, since we’re family owned and our kids have to be here all the time with us anyway, we thought we’d share them all with our customers this holiday season!” says owner Belinda Kelly.
