Bring a blanket, chair and picnic dinner and be ready for foot-tapping, hand-clapping evenings at each performance of the city of Sumner’s Music Off Main concert series.

Each concert is free of charge and begins 6:30 p.m. in Heritage Park, located in downtown Sumner where Cherry and Kincaid avenues meet Main Street.

The 2009 series kicks off July 3 with Pat Moss and New Frontier and their 1960s and ‘70s legendary blues and rock program.

Acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Kellee Bradley hits the stage July 10. Bradley has opened for national artists like Chicago, John Mellencamp, Huey Lewis and the News, JoDee Messina, Basia, the Steve Miller Band and Dar Williams at venues like the Gorge, Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, Marymoor Amphitheater and the Moore Theater. With three albums under her belt she’s become a seasoned professional and is a fixture in the Seattle music scene.

The July 17 performance features The Diamond Experience and its tribute to the music of Neil Diamond. Bringing the hits are Rick Gonzalez, Jay Douglas, Billy Farmer and Terrence Paul O’Hara. Music Off Main is one of their summer stops, as well as Taste of Tacoma, Kent’s Cornicopia Days and A Bite of Seattle.

Brazilian music fills the air July 24, followed July 31 by the season finale – the rollicking boogie-woogie humor and heartfelt blues of the award-winning Two Scoops Combo.
