If you like getting outside and walking, running or biking on the paved trails in Enumclaw, Buckley and Orting, consider checking out the new Sumner Link Trail in Sumner. It is a newly-constructed, paved trail that follows the White River as it undulates through the north valley of Sumner.

This trail is enjoyable for several reasons. These include a wide path, two pedestrian bridges that cross the White River, flat terrain, smooth asphalt and an interesting route through previously inaccessible farmland.

Here is how the trail is described on the Traillink.com website: “The new Sumner Link Trail offers the chance to experience the Valley along the White River including river views, wildlife and native vegetation as well as agriculture and industry. Linking to the Interurban Trail and Lakeland Hills Trail on the north and the Foothills Trail and Riverwalk Trail to the south, this is also a great commute option.”

From state Route 410 , take the Traffic Avenue exit. Turn onto Traffic Avenue and drive past McLendon’s Hardware. Turn left on State Street and follow State Street all the way to its dead end. Public parking is available at the recycling center and allows easy access to the adjacent Sumner Link Trail.

As you are planning your spring and summer activities, consider spending some time on this new trail as a way to be physically active while enjoying the beautiful Sumner valley.

Best wishes for your continued success.
