ManeStage Theatre Company continues its sixth season with its production of “The Legend of Sleeping Beauty,” opening Saturday Feb. 2. The stage production is a musical comedy — adapted from the Brothers Grimm tale of the Briar Rose — starring 40 local actors.
Starring players are Brittney Stout as Sleeping Beauty, Bryce Smith as Prince Michael, Jonathan Fowles as Gilles and Megan Worthen as the villain Malicia. The show is directed and choreographed by ManeStage Theatre executive director Brenda S. Henson. Jennifer Garretson directed the music, and costumes were done by Judy Brooks and Jodi Josephson.
The show will open 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Sumner Performing Arts Center on 1707 Main Street in Sumner. Additional shows will play 2 p.m. Feb. 3, 7 p.m. Feb. 8, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 9, 2 p.m. Feb. 10, 7 p.m. Feb. 15, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 16, and 2 p.m. Feb. 17.
There will be an opportunity after every showing to take photos with the cast; bring your own camera.
Tickets are $18 for general admission; $15 for students, senior citizens and members of the military; $10 for children 10-years-old and younger. Children younger than three years are discouraged from attending.
