A young Spanish-American man from the New York City slums is arrested for the murder of his father.
The circumstances are damning. Two witnesses claim to have heard him shout, “I’ll kill you!” earlier that evening. He owns a knife identical to the murder weapon. He claims to have been at a movie during the killing, but he just can’t seem to remember what it was about. In court, a guilty verdict will mean the death sentence.
Now his fate is in the hands of a jury plagued by individual prejudices and anxiety from the broiling summer heat. They just want the case over with. All except one juror who believes the case contains more than a little reasonable doubt. Can he convince the others?
Friday, ACT1 Theatre Productions begins its three-weekend run of “Twelve Angry Men,” a stage adaptation of Reginald Rose’s original 1954 teleplay, rewritten by Sherman L. Sergel.
The spartan production contains no scene changes and is driven entirely by the bristling tensions between jurors.
Performances will be held the weekends of April 12-14, April 19-21 and April 26-28; Friday performances are at . Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, senior citizens and members of the armed forces. They can be purchased from ACT 1’s ticket page on their website.
