Black Diamond police confiscated a pound and a half of meth, along with other drugs, after a pulling over a suspected DUI driver last week, the department reported.
Officers collected about 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 300 fentanyl pills and 19 grams of heroin while serving a search warrant on the suspect’s car, according to an email Wednesday from Black Diamond PD Commander Brian Martinez.
All told, the department estimated the street value of the seized drugs at more than $40,000. Around two-thirds of that amount was made up of the meth alone.
A Black Diamond PD officer stopped the driver on Dec. 1. Because the driver appeared to be intoxicated, the officer sought a blood search warrant and a warrant to search his vehicle.
They found and seized the drugs, along with 23 rounds of a .22 caliber firearm and $7,000 in cash. No firearm was found in the vehicle, according to Martinez.
A picture posted by the department of items seized from the vehicle included two cell phone chargers. According to the email from Martinez, those were taken as evidence along with the suspect’s cell phones for a future search warrant.
The case will be submitted to the King County Prosecutor for a charging decision, according to the department.
