$100K in grants available for Buckley-area projects

Buckley, Carbonado, and Wilkeson residents have an opportunity to get a slice of $100,000 in grant money this year for local projects.

The White River Hometowns Grant Fund, whist started in 2018, has been steadily granting money to various individuals and organizations that want to make a positive impact on their community.

This year, more than $102,000 is available, the most since the grant program began.

“There were some investment additions this year that gave us the big jump to over $100K,” Mary Beth Holmes, leader of the Prairie Ridge Community Coalition and the White River Families First Coalition. “We are really looking forward to seeing what passions might be supported this year.”

Previous projects and organizations that have been granted money include Beautify Buckley for various clean-up projects around the city, the Buckley Downtown Association and the events it puts on in the downtown corridor, Plateau Outreach Ministries and its food and financial support programs, and the Town of Wilkeson for continued improvements and beautification projects.

Once an application is submitted, a review committee will review applications until Nov. 26. The grant program is also looking for people to be on the review committee; for more information on how to apply, head to sites.google.com/view/white-river-hometowns-fund/home.

Funding recipients will be announced on Dec. 4 via email, and funds will be distributed by the end of December.
