70-year old domestic violence suspect shot by deputies in Buckley

The man was airlifted to a hospital and remains in stable but critical condition.

An elderly Buckley man was shot by deputies during a domestic violence call.

According to the Pierce County Force Investigation Team, Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence incident involving a weapon at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, April 15.

The call originated from the 14900 block of 272nd Avenue East in Buckley, northwest of the city proper and close to the Sumer Buckley Highway.

A PCFIT press release states officers made contact with the suspect, a 70-year old man, who was armed with a handgun.

“An officer involved shooting occurred, and the deputies immediately started life-saving measures,” the release reads. “The suspect… was airlifted to the hospital and is in stable but critical condition.”

No deputies were injured during the incident.

No information has been released about the moments leading up to the shooting.
