Rob McKenna, Washington state's attorney general, dropped by Enumclaw Middle School last week to help launch a new program aimed at keeping young kids away from alcohol.
“Ask, Listen and Learn” is a multi-media program developed through a partnership between The Century Council and Nickelodeon. The program is designed to help parents have effective conversations about alcohol with their kids. Attorney General McKenna, a father of four, is making program booklets available to principals of every middle school in the state.
McKenna visited three schools last week to help pitch the new program. Enumclaw Middle School was selected because school counselor Matt Carlson is president of the Washington American School Counselor Association. Other stops were in Bellevue and Yakima.
The Century Council is a non-profit group funded by some of the nation's leading distillers.
