Beautify Bonney Lake wraps year

It was Lucky No. 7 as more than 40 board members and team leaders gathered recently for a dinner and award presentation in honor of another successful Beautify Bonney Lake event.

Since 2004, more than 500 volunteers have spread out annually throughout the city on a Saturday to give back to their community and to make permanent changes to Bonney Lake. All 11 board members and all team leaders were thanked for the many hours given to make sure that all the projects were completed and all volunteers remained safe on the morning of the event.

Projects on more than 20 different sites were completed this year with three of them new to the event, including the Bonney Lake Dog Park, the Bonney Lake Community Garden and the Washington State University Forest.

Certificates were presented to the city of Bonney Lake, accepted by Mayor Neil Johnson, and to the Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce, accepted by Lora Butterfield, for the partnership role those organizations provide. In addition BBL has ongoing relationships with numerous service organizations in Bonney Lake at different locations throughout the city.

A plaque and special recognition was presented to Darrin Keaton, owner of Notable Web, for being a Premier Sponsor of this year’s event. Keaton redesigned the Beautify Bonney Lake website, www.beautifybonneylake.org, and served as a new trustee on the board of directors this year.
