The Black Diamond Community Center is collecting school supplies for its Running Start program to help low-income families in the greater Black Diamond area.
There is a need for backpacks, three-ring binders, spiral notebooks, paper packs, folders, calculators, Fiskar scissors, glue sticks, ball-point pens, markers, colored pencils, pink erasers, No. 2 pencils, pencil boxes and pouches.
Anyone wishing to donate can call or stop by the Community Center at 31605 Third Ave. (state Route 169) in Black Diamond.
Staff is requesting that supplies be dropped off by Aug. 18 so they can determine what items need to be purchased.

The BDCC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
For those in need of supplies, applications are available now for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. Completed applications are due by Aug. 4. School supplies will be distributed from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Black Diamond Community Center.
