Black Diamond police blotter | Jan. 17 – 23

A thief arrested at Enumclaw High, suspicious vehicles at Ten Trails, and a high speed chase.

Jan. 17

– Officers were dispatched to Pacific Street around 2 a.m. regarding threatening texts. The reporting party was advised to call police again if the individual showed up; an investigation was opened.

– Officers assisted Enumclaw police at the local high school around 3:15 a.m.; Black Diamond officers secured the area while Enumclaw officers arrested one person for theft.

Jan. 18

– Officers were patrolling the Ten Trails neighborhood around 4:45 a.m. when witnessed an unlicensed vehicle in the Cedar Avenue and Ash Avenue area; the driver parked and turned off the lights, but kept the car running. Officers contacted the driver, who claimed to be in the area to pick up a friend, and told officers their license plates were recently stolen. Officers confirmed through the VIN number that the plates had not been reported stolen. The driver then told officers their friend was too scared to come out of their home and left the area.

Jan 19

– Officers were dispatched to Cumberland Way around 11:15 p.m. for a welfare check with a confused subject who believed he was in Yakima, being kidnapped by family members. Officers alerted the wife of the man, who confirmed he was suffering from dementia. Officers left the man in the care of his wife.

Jan. 20

– A traffic stop on 3rd Avenue around 11:30 p.m. revealed the driver had a suspended license, and they were cited. A licensed driver arrived to take the car away.

Jan. 22

– Officers were on patrol on Franklin Drive around 10 a.m. when they spotted a stolen vehicle, parked and unoccupied. The owner was contacted.

– Officers responded to a report of a recently-seen stolen vehicle on 3rd Avenue around 5 p.m. The reporting party had been tracking a set of keys that had a tracker on them; the tracker indicated the keys were in the area. Officers would not locate the vehicle.

Jan. 23

– Officers were dispatched to 3rd Avenue around 11 a.m. regarding a theft suspect departing the scene. The theft happened in Enumclaw, and the victim was following the suspect to Black Diamond. Officers located the vehicle, which took off at a high rate of speed. Officers were unable to stop the vehicle, and could not identify the driver or the car.

– Officers were flagged down on SR 169 near Maple Valley to respond to a medical emergency at a construction site. Officers assisted EMS to control the scene while the subject was transported to a hospital.
