Bonney Lake will be electing a new mayor based on today's primary returns.
Five candidates were seeking the top two spots advancing to the general election Nov. 8.
As of Wednesday morning in the mayor's race, City Councilman Neil Johson leads with 698 votes, City Councilman Jim Rackley is second with 398 followed by Mayor Bob Young with 298, Dan Decker 138 and Quinn Dahlstrom 106.
If these numbers hold Johnson and Rackley will face off in the general election.
Absentee ballots are continuing to be received at the auditor's office. An updated of the numbers will be available at the Pierce County Auditor's site, www.piercecountywa.org.
Buckley's mayor race is shaping up to be a tight contest. City Councilwoman Pat Johnson out polled Mayor John Blanusa seeking his fourth term.
Johnson received 271 and Blanusa 234.
Only contested races of more than two candidates appeared on the primary ballot along with propositions and levies.
The top two vote-getters will move to the general election.
