VEHICLE PROWLS: Police on March 5 were dispatched to the 18200 block of state Route 410 for a report of a vehicle prowl. The victim reported that she parked her car behind the Prime Fitness and returned to find the right front window smashed and her purse missing.
CAR THEFT: Police on March 5 were dispatched to the 21100 block of state Route 410 for a report of a stolen vehicle. While en route, the officer located the vehicle traveling north on 198th and stopped the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest without incident. A search of the vehicle turned up multiple key rings containing “shaved” keys for multiple brands of cars. The suspect was trans ported to pierce county jail and booked for theft of a motor vehicle and possession of motor vehicle theft tools.
SHOPLIFTING: Police were called to Fred Meyer March 6 for a report of a shoplifter in custody. The suspect was caught by store security while attempting to leave the store with stolen merchandise, including clothing, in the amount of $243.22. This is the suspect’s second arrest in two weeks. A report was sent to Remann Hall and the minor was released into he custody of her grandmother.
OBSTRUCTING: While on routine patrol March 6 an officer noticed a pickup truck backed in and parked at the boat launch at Allen Yorke Park. An investigation revealed no one around and no trailer connected to the truck. The truck was also hi-centered on the northern curb of the boat launch. The officer called for an impound of the vehicle, which was illegally parked, when the owner arrived. The owner told police he intended to yank the vehicle off the launch and began to argue with police when advised a tow truck was on the ay to prevent further damage to the dock. The owner of the vehicle began to argue with the officer and continued to do so even after being told to return to the vehicle. After the owner refused, the officer placed him under arrest for obstructing. He was transported to Buckley jail. The truck was impounded.
SHOPLIFTING: Police were called to the WalMart March 6 for a report of shoplifting. A woman was observed by an employee putting merchandise in her purse totaling $151.90. Both Enumclaw and Buckley jails were full at the time so the woman was given a citation and escorted from the store.
POSSESSION: Police pulled over a vehicle March 7 after a records check showed the owner to be driving with a suspended license. Upon contact, the vehicle was searched and a baggie of marijuana and a glass pipe were found in the car, which were claimed by the passenger, who also had an outstanding Pierce County warrant. The driver was given a citation for driving with a suspended license and released. The passenger was was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Because of limited staffing, he was released into his own custody.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on March 7 were dispatched to the 6500 block of 192 Avenue East for a report of malicious mischief after a driver accidentally squealed his tires in front of a home and the home owner threw something at his vehicle, damaging the truck. Upon contacting the homeowner, he admitted to throwing a Transformer toy at the vehicle after the driver squealed its tires. After investigation, police concluded that the damage to the vehicle was not consistent with he toy and that the driver claimed something was thrown at the rear of the vehicle, but the damage was in the front.
POSSESSION: Police on March 9 pulled over a vehicle for a modified exhaust system and an inoperative brake light and detected an odor of marijuana. When asked, the driver got scared and revealed to police a small glass pipe and a baggie of marijuana. The driver was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as a modified exhaust and for the non-operating brake light. He was given a court date and released.
FRAUD: Police on March 9 took a fraud report from a Bonney Lake woman who’s credit card was used at two store in Florida for a total of more than $135. The bank was contacted and the case was forwarded to investigations.
MORE FRAUD: On March 9, police were called regarding fraudulent activity on a resident’s bank account in the amount of $257.40. The transaction came form a floral company in China. The bank was contacted and the victim will receive a full refund.
