ID THEFT: Police on April 18 responded to the Public Safety Building lobby where they took a report from a resident regarding an unknown person using her identity to open bank accounts in her name. The woman received a debit card from Bank of America a week earlier. The next day she received a welcome packet from Key Bank as well. Both accounts have been closed and there was no monetary loss, but the victim requested a case number so her credit could be frozen.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Police on April 20 took a report in the lobby of the public safety building from a property owner regarding damage to a residence in the 7800 block of 195th Avenue Court East that is believed to have occurred during an attempted burglary. The building’s tenants contact the owner the previous evening to report the damage to the front door lock, though it did not appear the burglar was able to enter the residence. Police are investigating.
SUSPENDED: Officers on routine patrol on state Route 410 on April 22 observed a vehicle with a headlight out and pulled it over. The driver had no license and no proof of insurance and a records check on her name showed her license to be suspended. She was cited for driving with license suspended and for defective equipment.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on April 22 were dispatched to the 4900 block of 197th Avenue East for a report that an ex-boyfriend had thrown a rock through a bedroom window, breaking it. According to the reporting party, who lives in the neighborhood and was mowing his lawn at the time of the incident, a vehicle drove slowly past the residence as if it was “casing” the home. The reporting party said he recognized the vehicle as belonging to the boyfriend of the neighbor’s niece. The neighbor then saw the vehicle drive by a second time and park two houses down. A suspect then exited the vehicle and walked toward the house, holding something in his hand. The neighbor then saw the suspect drop a rock and pick up a second one from the roadside. At that time a dog barked and that seemed to spook the suspect, who went back to his car and drove past the house again. He then saw the suspect vehicle drive back to the residence and back down the driveway at a high rate of speed. He heard smashing glass and a thumping on wood sound and then the vehicle sped out of the driveway. Police interviewed the homeowner who said the breakup between the suspect and her niece was “hostile” and the suspect left an angry message the day before. Police contacted the suspect who said he went to the house and knocked on the door but did not throw a rock through the window. He declined to fill out a statement form. The case will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney.
TIRE THEFT: Police on April 24 responded to a theft report from Les Schwab Tires on 214th Avenue East. The manager told police he noticed four tires missing while doing inventory of a recent delivery. Upon reviewing security video, the manger saw on April 21 a white van pull up and an unidentified man take the tires and drive off. The footage shows the van pull up behind the building, drive under an awning where tires were stack and park at a nearby gas station. Th evan remained there for several minutes and then at approximately noon the van backed up to the awning. A white male was then seen loading tires into the van and jumping in the back. The van began moving as the suspect was closing the rear door. Police are investigating.
FOUND BIKE: Police on April 23 were contacted by a resident in the 9500 block of 2095th Avenue East who found a mountain bike near his property. The resident left the bike near his fence for 24 hours to see if it belonged to a child who rides a local school bus, but no one picked it up. The bike has been placed into the property room at the Bonney Lake Police Police Department for safe keeping.
