For the first time in recent memory, every position on the Bonney Lake Senior Center Advisory Board in 2012 will be filled by women.
In elections last week at the senior center, Dorothy Dominguez was elected president of the board for next year. Dominguez was elected vice-president in 2011 and moved up to the role of president when Dennis Lynch was forced to step away to care for a family member.
Sherry Creson was elected vice president for 2012 with Anita Chnadler elected secretary and Milda Hadaway elected treasurer.
The membership also elected the following five general board members: Mary Russell, Nell Snodgrass, Leota Musgrave, Nadine Willadson and Judy Swain.
Nominations were taken from board members as well as from the general membership and then all members cast ballots on the final positions.
The Senior Center Advisory Board decides how best to raise an appropriate funds, which are mostly collected through the center’s weekly bingo games.
Senior Center Director Sue Hilberg said the membership raises between $10,000 and $15,000 each year.
The board decides the best way to appropriate the money to best serve the membership and support the services at the center, including subsidizing foot care for seniors, paying instructors for classes and picking up the tab for some activities.
Each position on the board is a one-year term.
