The city of Bonney Lake is sponsoring an open house from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday to solicit public input on the update of the city’s Shoreline Master Program.
Updating of the SMP is a state requirement.
The Bonney Lake SMP regulates building within floodways and within 200 feet of the ordinary high water mark of Lake Tapps. Only the lower third of Lake Tapps (formerly known as Church Lake) is under city jurisdiction.
A citizen advisory committee has been formed to provide input to the city, assist in outreach to various constituency groups and to ensure that a broad spectrum of interests and considerations are incorporated into the update process.
Lake Bonney and Lake Debra Jane are not affected by the Shoreline Master Program rules.
A shoreline inventory and analysis completed in June can be downloaded from the city’s website at citybonneylake.org (click the Government, then Community Development Department section).
