Two corrections and the sentencing of former bookstore owner Michael Lissy.

CORRECTION: In the article, “Pierce County Executive Mello visits Buckley leaders,” published April 2, the Courier-Herald misreported that Pierce County’s Business Accelerator program helped 600 businesses open in 2024. This is incorrect; 600 businesses have opened in the last three years. The online article has been updated.

CORRECTION: In the article, “Ground broken at Doc Tait Pavilion in Buckley,” published April 2, the Courier-Herald misreported Jean Contreras role with the Foothills Historical Society. Contreras is the treasurer, not the director. The article has been updated.

SENTENCING: Michael Lissy, former Enumclaw business owner of The Sequel bookstore, was sentenced to one day incarceration (with one day credit for time served) and 48 months of community custody after pleading guilty to viewing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He was originally charged in December 2021 with four counts of possession of these materials, as well as communication with a minor for immoral purposes, but pleaded guilty to the amended charges October 2024.
