Members of the Buckley Kiwanis Club honored a handful of young people as “Students of the Month” during recent meetings.
The following descriptions were provided by the Kiwanis Club.
Anna Kayna – Glacier Middle School – honored in February
“Anna is a wonderful young lady with a strong work ethic. She is a role model and quietly helps wherever she is needed. She is a lunchtime helper. Anna is a self-starter that is able to see what needs to be done and will go ahead and do it. She is a person to be depended on and she is happy to serve others in her school and community.”
Katelyn Jenkins – White River High School – honored in February
“Katleyn volunteers in various places in the community such as the clothing bank in Orting, cookie baking for the Senior Center, Heritage House, in Auburn working on building parks, and the nursery in the hospital. She continues to be strong in her academic work even though she spends many hours doing service for others. Katelyn has a true heart for school and community service and was appreciative of the recognition she received from the Kiwanis Club.”
Colby Hopkins – Wilkeson Elementary – honored in March
“Colby is a leader among the other students at his school. He helped with the Toy Drive, Clothing Drive and is a regular coordinator of student assemblies. Cody participated in the making of a video for appropriate student behavior. Cody is a great student, a role model and has a great sense of humor.”
Drew Sims – Mountain Meadow Elementary – honored in March
Drew was involved in the food drive at school. He is in Scouts, helped with the Veterans Day Assembly and is part of the leadership team. He is a well-rounded leader, mentor for other students and a great role model.”
Cameron Iverson – Elk Ridge Elementary – honored in March
“Cameron is a “quiet leader.” He is on the leadership team at school, helps first graders with their academics and also works with special needs students. Cameron also is involved in church programs that work with children.”
Noelle Mills – Carbonado School – honored in March
“Noelle Mills is an eighth-grade student at Carbonado School. Noelle encourages her classmates to work to the best of their ability. She positively works with students of all abilities. In athletic competitions, Noelle strives to make her team better. Noelle is always there to help someone in need. Noelle always seeks to uplift the students at Carbonado School, and she is not afraid to let someone know when he/she is being disrespectful to another classmate. Noelle lives by the phrase: “Treat others the way that you would like to be treated.”
