June 5: A Buckley man died June 5 in a three-car crash at the intersection of state Route 410 and 167.

According to a Washington State Patrol press release, an Elma, WA resident driving a 1996 Chevy Blazer was exiting SR 167 to go east on 410 around 4:15 a.m.

Meanwhile, a 2021 Ford F-150 and a 2015 Honda Pilot, driven by the Buckley resident, were going westbound on the highway.

The Elma driver allegedly failed to drive around the exit curve and went down the nearby embankment to strike the Ford; the Honda then hit the Chevy.

The Honda driver was dead on arrival; the identity of the resident has not been publicly released, awaiting next-of-kin notifications.

The roadway was completely closed for more than four hours.

It’s suspected the Chevy driver was driving under the influence.
