MARIJUANA CHARGE: During a Feb. 27 traffic stop at state Route 410 and Ryan Road, an officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrested for possession of both marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Later in the day an officer made a traffic stop along SR 410 and detected the odor of unburned marijuana. After the female driver consented to a vehicle search the marijuana was found. She was placed under arrest.
SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT: Police responded to a Cottage Street address Feb. 26 where a 50-year-old man and his 23-year-old stepson had been in a verbal argument. Things escalated with the younger man struck his stepfather with a 23-inch wooden stick. The assault caused a laceration to the top of the victim’s head and a finger. The stepson was arrested at the scene for second-degree assault.
DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: An officer was dispatched Feb. 26 to a Dundass Avenue apartment and a possible domestic assault. A female was taken into custody for domestic assault and resisting arrest. She was booked into the Buckley jail and a no-contact order was issued.
INJURY ACCIDENT: An officer was dispatched Feb. 25 to SR 410 and Lower Cemetery Road, the scene of a motor vehicle accident. The female driver was transported to a local hospital for possible chest and facial injuries.
JAIL ASSAULT: An officer responded to the city jail the evening of Feb. 23 to deal with a fight. He contacted all parties involved and issued a citation to the aggressor.
ANIMAL SITUATION: Police took a report shortly before midnight Feb. 23 from a Park Avenue resident complaining about a dog’s constant howling at a neighboring address. An officer went to the scene and found a dog shivering in the cold, without food or water. No one was home, so the officer took custody of the animal for its own safety; about 4 a.m., the owner claimed the dog.
POSSIBLE SUICIDE: Police responded Feb. 21 to a Perkins Street address after learning of a possibly-suicidal subject. Family members had already contacted the man’s doctor and the subject agreed to be transported. Police stood by until transportation to a local hospital was arranged.
TWO CHARGES: A Bonney Lake man was stopped for speeding Feb. 21 and was found to be driving while intoxicated. Police also found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was arrested, issued an infraction plus a criminal citation and released to a sober adult.
RUNAWAY: A city juvenile was reported by his mother as a runaway on Feb. 18. The youth was found in Granite Falls, Wash., and arrangements were made to have the juvenile picked up.
