Street rods, cruisers, motorcycles, customs and hot rods will hit streets of Enumclaw this weekend with all their flames, polished chrome and cool paint jobs, plus some live rock ‘n' roll music as a bonus.
The Stratocruisers Street Rod and Collectable Car Club is sponsoring the fifth annual Cruise Into Fall car show in Enumclaw. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with registration and set-up beginning at 8. There are dash plaques and goodie-bags for the first 100 cars to register and the entrance fee per car is $15 the day of the show. The show is open for all pre-1981 cars, trucks, motorcycles, customs and street rods. For information, contact Mike Lebow at 360-825-6343.
Those attending the show will be able to vote for the car they like best and see who gets the other awards (like the “best grocery getter” or the car most likely to outrun the Enumclaw Police).
This year, the Enumclaw Fire Department will have a live demonstration of a simulated automobile accident and extraction where they will demonstrate and explain the use of all their specialized tools of their trade like the Jaws of Life. The department will also display its vintage 1921 fire truck.
Organizers also hope to have one of Kasey Kahne's cars on display as well. Kahne, an Enumclaw native, is a rising star in the world of NASCAR racing and is fresh off victories in last week's Busch and Nextel Cup races.
There will be live entertainment and a raffle, with proceeds from that and the car show being donated to local charities (for example, Enumclaw Regional Hospital, Medic One, Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Northwest Second Harvest Toys For Tots and the Enumclaw Senior Activity Center).
As part of the day, classic autos will cruise for senior citizens. Participants will be at Cascade House (11 a.m.), Crystalaire (11:20 a.m.), Living Court/Expressions at Enumclaw (11:40 a.m.), Heritage House in Buckley (12:10 p.m.) and High Point Village 12:35 p.m.
