CAUGHT BY PASSERBY: On Jan 4, the reporting party observed a smashed car window and a young man walking away from the car with a purse. The reporting party told the young man to stop, but the young man took off instead. The reporting party caught up to the young man and demanded the purse, which was given to him. The young man was picked up by a female driver, which was when the reporting party called the police. The owner of the car and purse were located. The reporting party also gave officers the license plate number of the getaway car.
TOLD TO STOP: Officers were at a scene of a shoplift on Jan. 5 when they saw a car about to collide with a pedestrian. Officers waved their hands and yelled at the driver, going to far as to slam their hands against the hood of the car as it drove past to get it to stop. The car did not stop and hit the male, who was transported away for his injuries. The driver was unable to move on his own and was transported to the hospital, and it was unclear why the driver could not walk. A blood draw at the hospital was sent to the state toxicology lab.
