Bonney Lake is one step closer to filling the position of planning and community development director, a post left vacant by the retirement of Bob Leedy in March.
Mayor Neil Johnson and city staff chose John Vodopich from a field of four finalists last week and the candidate was to go before the City Council Tuesday for confirmation.
Vodopich has been the planning and community development director for the city of Gig Harbor since 2001. Prior to that position, he was the planning manger for Kitsap County.
He is a 1982 graduate of Chief Sealth High School in Seattle and received his undergraduate degree from Western Washington University.
City Administrator Don Morrison said one of the reasons he was chosen was he brought “considerable experience dealing with Pierce County government.”
