The city of Buckley is in the process of realigning the intersection of state Routes 410 and 165, Ryan Road and 112th St, jockeying the tenuous balance of municipal, state and federal approval on the project.
The project already has approval from the State Environmental Policy Act, as of December.
“We’re still waiting to get approval from DOE and the Army Corps on our Wetland Mitigation Plan and attempting to purchase the two remaining parcels that we need for the project,” City Administrator Dave Schmidt said. “I believe that once we have these we’ll be able to move forward.”
The project will actually affect five roads, the Foothills Trail, and a stormwater trunk line. When work commences, SR 165 will be realigned to intersect at a “T” with SR 410. Ryan Road and 112th Street East will be realigned to extend due east and west along the quarter section line, and will intersect with SR 165. River Avenue will be realigned to extend from Pearl Street to the realigned Ryan Road. The trail will be altered to be adjacent with the altered SR 165.
A storm trunk line will be extended from Ryan Road to the existing downstream storm trunk line at the intersection of 410 and Hinkleman Extension Road, which will entail replacement of a culvert crossing of the Sumner-Buckley Highway at Hinkleman Extension Road.
