ANNEXATION MEETING: A public information meeting regarding the Nov. 2 annexation vote for the city of Enumclaw and Fire District No. 28 is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Cumberland Fire Station.

FOOD CARD CLASS: A food worker card class for food workers, day-care providers and others interested in food safety is scheduled for 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Buckley Multi-Purpose Center, 811 Main St. To register, call 360-829-0190. DAIRY WOMEN: The King-Pierce Counties Dairy Women will host a meeting at noon today, Wednesday, at The Kettle restaurant in Enumclaw. PLAY TIME: Stage Door Productions announces tickets are available for its double feature event: “Black Comedy and The Real Inspector Hound.” Two short comedies on one bill, both in one night. FUNDRAISING BENEFIT: A benefit is planned for 5-year-old Buckley resident Regan Englehardt, who has Dravet syndrome, also known as severe myoclonic epilepsy of infancy, a rare and catastropic form of epilepsy for which there is no cure. She needs both specialized equipment for her bed and a seizure-alert dog to help her parents respond more quickly to her seizures. A buffet dinner is scheduled from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Buckley Eagles. The cost is $10 per person or $25 for a family, up to four people. A silent and live acution will follow at 8 p.m. A special performance by Aces Up is also scheduled. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation to benefit research and a cure. HEALTH EXPO: The Senior Health Expo and flu immunizations will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Enumclaw High School commons, 226 Semanski St. The center invites area seniors and families for a free health and wellness event. with more than 35 vendors offering health screenings, demonstrations, resource booths and information pertaining to senior issues. Enumclaw’s Safeway Pharmacy staff will be administering immunizations. They accept most insurances. All other participants will be charged a fee for flu and pneumonia immunizations.

HANDS-ON SCIENCE: Buckley Youth Center’s hands-on science starts at 11 a.m. Saturday. The class is designed for children ages 4 to 10. The cost is $8 per class, or $24 per session.

MONDAY, October 18

DRIVERS SAFETY: An AARP Drivers Safety Class will be offered from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Enumclaw Senior Activity Center. The ARRP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. Call the center to reserve a space. STORY TIME: Registration is under way for the Enumclaw Public Library’s winter story time sessions, Tuesday, through Nov. 4. Toddler Time will be 10 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

This is for children ages 2 to 3 ½ accompanied by an adult. Toddler Times has started and runs for eight weeks. Preschool story time will be 10 to 10:30 a.m. to 11 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. Gallery 2010: The city of Enumclaw Gallery 2010 presents photographer Lauri Hillberg’s Birds of Enumclaw. The exhibit begins Thursday and continues through Nov. 2 at Enumclaw City Hall. Hours for the exhibition space are 8 a. m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Enumclaw City Hall is closed on national holidays. The gallery is closed to the public Tuesdays for municipal court. CHOICE PROGRAM: The Choice Program is accepting applications for third through 12th grade through the summer. Applications can be picked up at the White River District Office, 240 N. A St., Buckley at the Human Resources office.

GET ON TRACK: Get on Track runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Black Diamond Community Center, 31605 Third Ave. The group’s focus is to educate youth ages 13 to 17 who are in danger of entering the Juvenile Justice System or who have court-ordered hours. Each session qualifies for 1.5 hours of community service time. Youth and parent are required to attend a two-hour intake prior to attendance. CHILD FIND: The White River School District provides Child Find screenings, at no cost to families, throughout the school year. This is an opportunity to have preschool-age children checked by professionals from Student Support Services in the areas of vision, hearing, speech/language, learning and motor skills. The purpose of the screening is to identify issues that could affect a child’s future success in school.
