Bonney Lake City Council members kicked off 2008 with series of appointments and swearing-in ceremonies at their Jan. 8 meeting.
Four council members were sworn into office by Judge James Helbling.
Laurie Carter will be representing Ward 1. She replaces Cheryl Noble, who did not run for re-election.
Dan Decker is representing Ward 5 after defeating incumbent Phil DeLeo in November's general election.
Mark Hamilton represents the At-Large position No. 2. He ran unopposed for his second term.
Jim Rackley was unopposed for Ward 2. This will be Rackley's third term.
Councilman Dan Swatman was elected by the members to the deputy mayor position. He has been deputy mayor for the city since January 2002.
The deputy mayor chairs meetings if the mayor is absent and works with the staff and mayor to set the meeting and workshop agendas.
The council also chose members for the three subcommittees.
The Public Safety Committee members are Hamilton, Carter and Dave King, who will be the chairman.
Rackley, David Bowen and Decker make up the Community Development Committee. Rackley will be the chair.
The Finance Committee is comprised of Rackley, King and Swatman. The chairman will be Swatman.
Doug Haake was unanimously confirmed by the Council as the city's Municipal Court judge. Helbling, who is retiring, performed the swearing-in ceremony with Haake.
