The Pierce County Auditor’s Office will open Saturday, June 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to meet summertime demand for:
· Marriage licensing.
· Passport processing.
· Vehicle/vessel licensing.
· Pet licensing.
· Discover passes to state parks.
Last year more than 24,000 boats were licensed in Pierce County, and all of their tabs expire on the same day: July 1st. “Because the Department of Licensing no longer sends boaters renewal notices, most people don’t think about it until they’re getting the boat ready for a Fourth of July weekend outing,” said Julie Anderson, Pierce County Auditor. “Our office gets crushed with people getting ready for summer events.”
Passport sales are up nearly 20 percent as passports reach their expiration date and people plan for vacations overseas. For folks staying closer to home, they may suddenly realize that they need a Discover Pass to enjoy state parks. And, of course, the busy summer wedding season has kicked into high gear.
“Our mission is to make sure we are available and make it convenient and easy for people to come down and get their business done,” said Cindy Hartman, Pierce County Deputy Auditor.
