The Benefit Night dinner and silent auction takes place Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Sumner High School commons area.
This is the seventh year Sumner High School’s Associated Student Body has raised money for a community member in need. The beneficiary for 2013 is Dean Inglin, a Sumner family man and brain cancer patient. Inglin and his family are involved members of the high school and community. He is an active member of the Sumner Rotary Club and a supporter of the Recreation Department and local Little League.
Benefit Night is actually three nights of fundraising events. The first is a dinner and silent auction. Tickets cost $20 for a plate, and a number of donated items will be up for bid. Benefit Night talent shows will run Thursday and Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $8 at the door.
The money raised will alleviate the Inglin family’s costs for medical care, lost income, travel to treatment and home remodeling to accommodate the onset of paralysis and weakness in the right side of his body. Inglin’s condition is severe and incurable; his family and friends seek to improve his quality of life for as long as possible, according to a Sumner School District press release for the benefit.
Sumner High School and its Performing Arts Center are located at 1707 Main Street in Sumner.
