DRIVER ALERT: NIghttime closures on SR410 this week for construction

Since March, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) along with contractor, J.R. Hayes and Sons, Inc. have been making progress on a widening project that brings congestion relief to state Route 410 in Bonney Lake.

Motorists can expect nighttime closures this week in addition to shoulder closures and short delays while trucks enter and exit the construction zone along SR 410 between 214th and 234th Avenues. Daytime work hours are 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily.

Nightly, drivers can expect flagger-controlled, one-way, alternating traffic in the same location from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 23, through Friday, Aug. 29, and from 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 to 8 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 29.

Crews are preparing to shift traffic from the south side of the highway onto the north side so they can begin widening work on that section of roadway. The shift prep work requires closing 233rd Avenue where it intersects with SR 410.

The closure begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday and extends to 8 a.m. Sunday. A signed detour will be in place.

The traffic shift begins 8 p.m. Saturday and the roadway reopens in its new temporary alignment by 8 a.m., Sunday.

This $29.3 million project, which is funded by both Nickel and Transportation Partnership dollars, adds one lane in each direction of SR 410, and a raised median separating the eastbound and westbound traffic. A new traffic signal and revised traffic movements at the split intersection of 233rd Avenue East and 234th Avenue East improves mobility and reduces the potential for collisions.

This project also adds stormwater treatment facilities, lighting at the traffic signals and bus stop improvements. For more information, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr410/234thlanes/
