DRUNK DRIVER: The evening of Sept. 8, a trooper stopped a vehicle traveling 69 mph on state Route 410 near Crystal Mountain Boulevard. The driver, who smelled of intoxicants and had slurred speech, failed field sobriety tests. The Seattle man was arrested for driving under the influence and his vehicle was impounded. He provided a preliminary breath test of .110 and later refused a breath test at the police station.
MINOR INJURIES: Following a day of hiking, a driver fell asleep while traveling on SR 410 near Mud Mountain Road. The incident occurred at 5 p.m. Sept. 4. The vehicle struck a stump and rolled onto the shoulder of the road, winding up upside down in a tangle of bushes. All occupants of the vehicle were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
