It appeared to be hindering the travel of the vehicle behind it and the officer witnessed the beep its horn and simultaneously drive up on to a raised curb and on to the shoulder. The officer believed this to be unintentional. The officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, which drove back on to the curb before jerking back to the center of its lane and then finally pulled completely off the shoulder. As the officer approached, the driver began to “babble” and apologized for honking at a friend behind her. The driver was slurring her words and smelled of intoxicants. The driver could not provide a license or registration for the vehicle and told the officer she lived down the street and said “I can see my house from here.” The driver was unsteady on her feet and when police told her they suspected her of being under the influence, she told police she had nothing to drink, but lost her balance as she said so. She told police “You are going to ruin my life” and again asked to “just go home” and then told police she had two glasses of wine with dinner. She agreed to take field sobriety tests and police arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence. Back at the station, the driver was allowed to speak with a public defender and then blew breath samples of .183 and .172. Before the test she told police “I hate you right now. I know I’m going to blow over.” She was booked into the Buckley jail.
