Participants in the 2015 Tour de Pierce have until June 12 to register for the event at the $14 individual price, or $42 price for a family of four from the same household. The 25th annual bike ride to promote safety, fitness and fun kicks off June 28 in Puyallup at the gold parking lot of the Washington State Fairgrounds (S. Meridian and 9th Avenue SE in Puyallup).
“This year’s course includes 30- and 50-mile marked routes, plus a 12-mile route designed for families or for those new to biking,” said Cara Cross, recreation supervisor for Pierce County Parks. “All routes include maps and cue sheets, MapMyRide QR codes, a rest stop with refreshments and restrooms.”
Cross noted that this year’s event also features special giveaways, food provided by Taco Time and a commemoration of the ride’s 25-year history. Competitors can also pre-order event t-shirts for $20. For a participation application, call 253-798-4177 or register online at www.piercecountywa.org/parks.
Same day registration is from 7:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on ride day, and registration fees include refreshments, entertainment and a numbered bib. The Tour de Pierce event will take place rain or shine and no refunds will be issued for inclement weather.
