The work of Enumclaw artist Bertha Moore will be featured through June 4 at Gallery 2013 in Enumclaw City Hall.
Moore combines quilting, sketching, painting and other media to create Northwest scenes of her own backyard, tranquil beaches, a cabin silhouette, an oceanside cabin and more. Her creations are a combination of Moore’s imagination and creative manipulation of material, thread and paint.
“It seems like I have always been inspired by fabric with all its colors, designs, and images to create quilts,” Moore said in a prepared artist’s statement.
“Recently I began painting in acrylics on canvas to expand my creative interests… it wasn’t long before I started experimenting with paint on my fabrics. I quickly found that my connection to fabric is so strong that the added benefit of being able to embellish it with paint piqued my interest to create pictorial art quilts.”
Gallery 2013 is in council chambers at City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours for the exhibit are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
