Attention all FFA Stock Show Participants: You have a mandatory meeting TUESDAY, March 26th at 7PM in the Agriculture Building. This is a mandatory meeting and a parent must be present as well. We will be covering all necessary information to get you ready for the Spring Fair! Talk to your advisors for more details.

 

Any student who has not picked up their course registration packet for next year, needs to see their English teacher as soon as possible. If you do not have an English class please come to the counseling office. Your form needs to be completed by Tuesday, March 26th.

 

Time is running out for AP Test Registration.  TODAY is the last day to register for AP Testing.  There will be no late registrations accepted this year.  Please bring your Registration Forms and payment to the Cashier’s office, prior to the end of day TODAY!!  Don’t miss out on this great chance to receive college credit for all your hard work!  Testing begins May 8th – May 17th.  Testing will take place at JJ Smith.  All students must ride the District provided transportation.

The annual Mr. EHS competition returns on Wednesday, March 27^th.  Come to the auditorium at 7:00PM to see representatives from each class compete for the coveted title of Mr. EHS.

 

Come build a muscle at the Hive.  Donate a dollar and get your name on a clover and all proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Clovers are only a $1.00 and you will be helping a great cause while buying your favorite products at the Hive.

 

Are you a senior or junior who is undecided about what to do for your future?  Have you thought about college, technical college, community college but don’t know where to start or who to talk to?

Come to the counseling center and pick up a permission form to attend GRCC’s College Planning Day, Friday, March 22.  For those who don’t drive, there will be a free shuttle provided.  Sign up in the counseling center if interested.

Are you hoping to enroll in Cosmetology program next year? This is a reminder that application forms and interviews must be completed and returned to Mr. Smith by May 15th. There is still time to apply. Stop by the Career and Tech Office to get an application.

EHS Robotics!  The end of the season annual potluck and certificates awards night is Friday, March 22 from 7:00 to 8:00pm in room 603. (Please remember what you signed –up to bring.)

 

Pennies for Patients Fundraiser  — put your pennies in the boxes until March 29th and then the boxes will disappear. Monies will go for cancer patients & research.

 

EHS Girls Basketball Awards will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 7:00PM in the Commons .  Cake and refreshments will be served.  Family and friends are all invited to celebrate our amazing season!

Counseling News/Career Center (room #147) this month:

The Local Scholarships are now available.  Please go to documents in the career center swift website to access the scholarship list, or you can stop by the career or counseling center to pick up a copy.  All applications are due the counseling center by April 10th.

 

If you are a student who is interested in Running Start, there will be an information session at the Lindbloom Student Center at GRCC’s main campus on Tuesday, March 26th at 6:00 pm, Monday, April 22nd at 6:30 pm, and Tuesday, April 30th at 5:30 pm.

Are you a student that would like to learn more about the fashion industry?  Nordstrom is currently accepting applications for the Nordstrom BP Fashion Board for the 2013-14 school year.  The Fashion Board covers a variety of topics including trend forecasting, advertising, marketing, buying, styling and the world of retail.  The deadline to apply is April 15th, go to http://bit.ly/WN1fAE to apply.

 

Are you interested in a career related to the sports industry (including writing, math, business, advertising, media, medicine and more)?  Then come to the Sports and Entertainment Information and Career Fair on April 16 at 2:15 pm or April 17th at 3:15 pm at Cheney Stadium.  Tickets are $16.50 and include Rainiers game and a ballpark meal.  Call Lauren Coombs at 253-761-5631 for more information.

CLUBS:

 

Native American /Alaskan Native Club meets monthly with no fees to participate. The group will learn leadership skills and participate in cultural events. If you have questions please see Cathy in the Counseling Center.

 

Spanish Club is a group that celebrates Hispanic and Latino culture and practices the use of the Spanish language.  The club is organized and ran by student leaders in the University of Washington Spanish class.  Spanish club meets once a month in Profa. Stewart’s room 141 from 2:45-3:45.  Each month we learn and celebrate a topic related to Hispanic and/or Latino Heritage.  This is great place to meet friends, earn culture credit points, and have a good time.  Membership dues are $5.00 per semester.  2012/2013 dates: 4/11, and 5/9.

 

Weight Club days and times for the winter season are now Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45-4:00.  Join today!  Please pay the cashier $10.00 along with a signed weight club form.  Please see Coach Gunderson with any questions or Coach Murrell (Stussy)
