The Enumclaw Police Department proudly announced last week that the city was once again rated one of Washington State’s safest.
Enumclaw has been featured on Safewise’s annual Safest Cities list in recent years.
This year, the city came in at No. 15.
Enumclaw was ranked 9th last year, 16th in 2023, 13th in 2022, and 11th in 2021.
This year’s rankings are determined by 2023 FBI crime report statistics on violent and property crime per 1,000 people in each city.
For Enumclaw, there is less than one violent crime and about 20 property crimes per 1,000 people.
Last year, there were 17.4 property crimes reported per 1,000 people. Property crimes include burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft.
Enumclaw had fewer burglaries in 2022 (which is the data Safewise analyzed for the 2024 Safest Cities Report) than in 2023, from 32 to 24.
And while there was an equal amount of total larceny-theft reports between 2022 and 2023 at 187 various reports, there was an increase in motor vehicle thefts, from 56 to 67. This may be why Enumclaw’s per capita property crime ratio jumped about 2.5 points.
