A motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck yesterday afternoon, killing a local man.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Lee Duane Smith, 59, was traveling northbound on state Route 165 at 133rd Street Court East when he lost control and crossed the centerline, crashing into Buckley resident Everette Riggs at a high rate of speed.

Smith, an Enumclaw resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Riggs was uninjured.

The crash occurred around 4:37 p.m., and the road was blocked for nearly 5 hours.
