INFORMATION SOUGHT: A citizen sought police advice at 8 a.m. Jan. 3 regarding an accident involving an automobile and an animal. An officer explains options.
HIT AND RUN: Police responded just after noon Jan. 3 to the area of 244th Avenue Southeast and state Route 164, the scene of a two-car accident. One of the drivers received a citation for hit and run.
BELONGINGS FOUND: An appointment book, makeup bag and a Women, Infants and Children folder were found Jan. 3 in the vicinity of Harding Street and McHugh Avenue. Police took possession of the items.
E-MAIL THREATS: A citizen asked for extra police patrol after receiving threatening e-mails relating to an incident that occurred in Des Moines.
MANURE OK: Police were told Jan. 3 of an illegal dump in the field behind Sunrise Elementary School. An officer made contact and learned the subject doing the dumping had received permission from the school to place manure in the area.
VEHICLE IMPOUNDED: Police learned Jan. 3 of a vehicle that had been parked, with two flat tires and expired license tabs, for several months on Merritt Avenue. The vehicle was impounded.
DRIVE THROUGH: Police were told Jan. 2 of an intoxicated driver at the drive-through window of a Griffin Avenue business. The vehicle was stopped, a man was arrested for driving under the influence, a female passenger was released and the car was impounded.
EXPLOSION: An officer heard an explosion shortly before 1 a.m. Jan. 1 near the public restrooms at Railroad Street and Initial Avenue. Police found a sparkler bomb had been detonated in the parking lot but no property damage was caused.
PASSED OUT: A Black Diamond officer spotted a man passed out in a vehicle – with the engine running – just before 3 a.m. Jan. 1. The man was told not to drive and he obtained a hotel room for the night.
NO PROBLEM: Police were asked to look for a man who departed a Buckley tavern at about 11 p.m. Jan. 2, intending to walk to his Enumclaw home. He had refused a ride and friends were concerned because of cold weather and the man’s level of intoxication. Enumclaw police could not located the man, but later learned he had spent time passed out in a Buckley ditch before returning to the tavern where he started. He eventually accepted a ride home.
RUNAWAY: Police were alerted Dec. 31 that a 15-year-old boy had run away from a drug rehabilitation center in Lacey. His family resides in rural Enumclaw and thought it possible he would return to the area. Seven hours later, the boy was found in Lacey.
JUVENILE TROUBLE: Police were told Dec. 31 of juveniles attempting to get adults to purchase alcohol at a city store. Contact was made and all denied the claim; the juveniles were advised to move along.
