Enumclaw woman arrested after three-car crash kills two

Charges have not yet been filed against the local, who allegedly caused the wreck when trying to pass multiple other vehicles.

Two are dead and another three were injured in a three-vehicle wreck on state Route 410 last Sunday.

According to a Washington State Patrol press release, on Oct. 13, around 11:30 a.m., the driver of vehicle one – an Enumclaw woman – was driving west toward milepost 34 between Enumclaw and Greenwater when they allegedly attempted to pass multiple other vehicles by entering the eastbound lane.

The second vehicle was one of the cars vehicle one was attempting to pass.

The third vehicle was driving east; to prevent a crash, vehicle one attempted to return to the westbound lane but collided with vehicle two.

Vehicle two lost control and entered the eastbound lane, hitting vehicle three.

Vehicle one ended down an embankment while the other two vehicles blocked the eastbound lane.

The Enumclaw resident and the driver and passenger of vehicle three, both from Seattle, were transported to Harborview Hospital.

The driver and passenger of vehicle two, from Seattle, were killed and pronounced dead on the scene; their identities were withheld pending next of kin notification.

A witness to the crash told the Courier-Herald that Shane Treat and Kasarah Gregg attempted to save the life of the two Seattle residents before first responders arrived by cutting out the airbags, removing them from their car, and performing CPR, but were unable to do so. Treat did not return a call for comment before print deadline.

The Enumclaw resident was arrested under suspicion of vehicular homicide. However, she has yet to be charged with a crime, and the Courier-Herald typically does not name suspects without charges.
