Plateau Outreach Ministries has announced that Kimberly Fish, the organization’s executive director, plans to leave POM on Sept. 1 to resume her career in nursing.
“Kimberly has been an outstanding director and we are saddened by her resignation because of the dedication and passion she has brought to her job every day,” said Montye Male, president of the POM board of directors. “But most importantly we are deeply appreciative that she is leaving our ministry in excellent condition. During her tenure she has recruited dedicated staff and volunteers. At the same time, she has helped POM improve its balance sheet, acquired a permanent home, strengthened partnerships with social services agencies and churches and, most importantly increased the number of people we help.”
Plateau Outreach Ministries provides Christ-centered social services to the community on behalf of the churches of the Plateau Ministerial Association. It focuses on helping the most vulnerable members of the community with basic needs such as food, clothing, housing, emergency financial assistance and case management – which includes counseling referrals. Residents of Enumclaw, Black Diamond, Buckley, Carbonado, South Prairie and Wilkeson are eligible for its emergency financial assistance regardless of faith, age, gender or national origin. Its food bank and thrift store, More Pennies from Heaven, serve all, regardless of where they reside.
“I will always love POM, but events of the last year have radically changed my life,” Fish said. “I was a nurse before I joined POM, and I feel a strong calling to resume a career focused on helping to comfort and cure the sick. I leave POM with a strong board, a skilled staff, committed volunteers, and faithful donors. The recession of the past few years has tremendously increased the need for our services on the plateau, and I know POM is well positioned to address them.”
POM will continue to improve the quality and quantity of its services,” Fish said.
POM will conduct a search for a new executive in the coming weeks.
