Sumner City Council named five new members to the Sumner Historical Preservation Commission Monday. The new members named were Steve Allwine, Arla Holzschuh, Melony Kirkish, Dale Loseth and Emily Terrell.
The Historic Preservation Commission reviews applications from property owners who wish to have their lot located on a local historic register.
The board also reviews properties on the registry with owners who wish to apply for state tax benefits associated with historic sites.
“We’re really thankful and excited to have these five members,” Community Development Director Paul Rogerson said. “The mayor and I interviewed these folks and they are all very committed to historic preservation and have some pretty unique qualifications. This is a board that’s going to hit the ground running with a lot of knowledge already in place.”
