Drug paraphernalia: Officers responded to a call of attempted shoplifting on May 18 at a Bonney Lake business. While driving to the business, officers were advised the shoplifter had an accomplice outside the store, identified by the shoplifter. Officers contacted the subject outside the store, who gave officers his name and said he was waiting for his ride. Loss prevention staff identified the subject was part of the theft, and officers placed him in handcuffs. Officers asked the subject for ID and found two identity cards. Neither names on the ID cards were the identity the subject originally gave officers. After determining the subjects real name, officers were advised he had several warrants out of Bonney Lake and Auburn. Officers asked if the subject was going to return the stolen merchandise, but the subject denied being a part of the theft. Officers searched the subjects bags and found several hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia. Officers then went into the store to talk to the shoplifter. Loss prevention said they observed him select several drill bits and a folding knife and place them in his pockets, and then attempted to leave the store. The shoplifter was trespassed from the business and cited for theft, then released. There were no charges filed on the associate for drug paraphernalia.
